Jessie Eagles Kelly

Jessie Eagles Kelly, 79, of Sulphur, La., died Tuesday, March 26, 2024 in Baltimore, Md.  Jessie was born Nov. 16, 1944 in Winnfield, La. to Walter Randolph and Gladyse Mae (Lasyone) Eagles.  She is survived by her children, Erin Colleen Kelly (Mairi Quodomine) and Patrick Tiernan Kelly (Megan Fontenot); sister, Thelma Reid (Stan) Griffith; brother, James Harry (Sandra) Eagles; numerous nieces and  nephews; many friends and honorary relatives.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lou Anne Smith, and brother, Walter Rufus Eagles.

Jessie graduated from Dry Prong High School (1962) and received a BA in Social Sciences (1967) from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La. Jessie’s career focused primarily on work with seniors, including as a home-delivered meals case manager and the manager of a senior center. She loved talking with people and hearing their stories.  She was a member of the Cottonwood String Band and played many instruments, including guitar, banjo, and dulcimer.  Jessie loved her family and friends and had close connections all around the country from her years living in Florida, New Jersey, Oregon, Virginia, Ohio, and California. Other passions included reading, bird watching, gardening, and crafts.

Memorial services will be held in Louisiana at a later date.
