Two men have been arrested in a March 22 shooting outside a 12th Street convenience store in which shots were fired into a vehicle occupied by several people — including minors.

Lake Charles Police Sgt. Andrew Malveaux said officers responded to the shooting at about 5:30 p.m.

Malveaux said 19-year-old Wilder Issac Cantillano-Vindel is accused of shooting into a vehicle occupied by several people, including two minors. After the shooting Cantillano-Vindel fled the scene with a second person in his vehicle who was later identified as 22-year-old Kevonte Dawan Frances.

“The victim’s vehicle was damaged by gunfire and glass breakage from the vehicle did strike one of the minors,” Malveaux said. “The minor was treated for minor injuries.”

He said the Cantillano-Vindel and Frances knew the vehicle’s occupants.

Both men were arrested on March 28, Cantillano-Vindel is charged with attempted second-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property. His bond has been set at $800,000.

Frances is charged with accessory after the fact to attempted second-degree murder and his bond is set at $180,000.
