The mandatory sentence is life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole.

“This case is extremely tragic,” District Attorney Jimmy Lestage said after the trial. “Four young children left to grow up without their mother because of the actions of this man. I hope the knowledge that he will be sentenced to serve out his natural life in prison brings some closure for them and the rest of Ashley’s family.”

He added, “I thank the jurors for their attention and their time. We cannot bring justice for victims without our citizens being willing to serve. I also want to thank the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office, DeRidder City Police, Louisiana State Police and the medical and firearm experts who were able to collect, review and report the evidence and effectively present it to the jury. Finally, I want to acknowledge my staff who were dedicated to seeking justice for Ashley Fish and her family, especially lead prosecutors Adam Bone and Richard Morton.”
