City teams up with Region 5 STEM Center for Lessons in Urban Ecology

On Saturday, March 23, the city of Lake Charles and Region 5 STEM Center are teaming up to present Lessons in Urban Ecology.

This Partners in Parks event will take place at Riverside Park (1701 Fitzenreiter Rd.) from 10 am to noon.

Urban ecology refers to the scientific study of the relation of living organisms with each other and their surroundings in the urban environment.

This hands-on learning experience will feature a series of experiments fit for the entire family to learn through play. Experiments with disappearing ink will help attendees learn about the effects of greenhouse gases and experiments with a small, battery-powered fans will help attendees learn more about the impacts of wind erosion. Participants will also have the opportunity to make their own terrarium, helping them learn more about ecosystems as happy homes.

This event is free and open to the public to attend.
