Authorities have arrested a Rayne man after they say he attempted to rob an Oakdale bank at gunpoint last Friday.

Paul Drake Jaubert, 32, was taken into custody without incident Wednesday at a family member’s residence, according to Oakdale Police Chief Chad Doyle.

Jaubert is charged with the attempted armed robbery of the La Capital Federal Credit Union in Oakdale and driving under suspension.

The investigation is still active and additional charges may be pending, Doyle said.

Jaubert allegedly walked into the bank shortly after noon last Friday armed with a gun and attempted to rob it. Bulletproof glass averted that attempt, authorities said.

After failing to obtain any money, Jaubert reportedly fled the bank in a pickup truck last seen heading south on U.S. 165.

No customers were in the bank at the time and no employees were injured, Doyle said.

The Oakdale Police Department, Allen Parish Sheriff’s Department and the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office have assisted in the investigation and helped execute an arrest warrant for Jaubert on Wednesday morning, Doyle said.

“It’s great to have a working relationship with other agencies to help solve crimes for the citizens that we serve,” he said.
