Naeem joins West Cal Cam

SULPHUR — West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital welcomes Uzma Naeem, MD, FACOG, ob/gyn, to its medical staff at OBG-1. Naeem joins Dr. Scott Bergstedt, MD, FACOG, ob/gyn, and Allison Hansen, certified nurse midwife.

Naeem received her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis. She is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

State Police honors graduates

The Louisiana State Police has announced the graduation of its 103rd Cadet Class.

Throughout the 24-week journey at the academy, cadets received training in various subjects including crash investigation, emergency vehicle operations, impaired driving detection, fair and impartial policing, legal aspects and constitutional updates, advanced firearms, and leadership skills, in addition to a rigorous physical training regimen.

Having successfully completed the academy, the newly graduated troopers will deploy across the state, where they will participate in a 10- to 14-week field-training program while supervised by a veteran Louisiana State trooper.

Graduates Marcus Hardy, Jesse Morris, Lena Pollich and Jesse Thurman have been assigned to Troop D in Lake Charles.

Henry joins Memorial Health

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is pleased to welcome Barry Henry, MD, an orthopedic surgeon, to its medical staff. Henry is the newest physician to join Memorial’s team of Orthopedic Specialists of Nathan Cohen, MD, Kipp Cryar, MD, Alan Hinton, MD, and James Jackson, DO.

After 20 years of private practice in Lafayette, Henry is excited to return to his hometown of Lake Charles.

After attending the United States Air Force Academy and graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University, he served three years active duty in the Air Force and was Honorably Discharged from service before pursuing his medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He then completed residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Mockler Beverage now open in LC

Timothy and Patick Mockler along with Chris Davis, president of Mockler Beverage, have purchased Southwest Beverage Company, the Anheuser-Busch distributor in Lake Charles, Alexandria and Leesville from Ben Marriner.

The sale includes the facilities and staff at each location, which means continued employment for the employees of Southwest Beverage.

“I’m from here. I grew up here,” said Davis, a graduate of Leesville High School. “I started in the beer business here in 1989. Now I am thrilled to serve in the ownership role serving these communities.”

A proud Anheuser-Busch distributor, Mockler Beverage also represents brewers such as Constellation, Mark Anthony, and New Belgium along with several craft brewers including Gnarly Barley and Urban South. Their portfolio also includes many non- alcoholic brands such as Prime, Ghost and Evamore water.

Mockler Beverage, the Baton Rouge based distributor began in 1987.  That year the company patriarch Gary Mockler purchased Southern Beverage Company.

Hebert named board secretary

The Lake Charles Regional Airport announces that Amelia Hebert was recently elected secretary of the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Airport Managers and Associates at their quarterly membership meeting.

Hebert is the marketing and business development manager at Lake Charles Regional Airport and will serve a two- year term as the secretary of LAMA.

Hebert is a graduate of McNeese and has worked at the Lake Charle regional Airport since 2015 starting as a paid intern before working her way into management of the commercial airport.

The Louisiana Airport Managers and Associates is a professional membership organization representing the interest of airports and aviation for the state of Louisiana.
