Sulphur man charged in sexual abuse of child

A 42-year-old Sulphur man has been arrested and charged with first degree rape in reference to allegations of him sexually abusing a girl under the age of 13.

On Jan. 26, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives received a complaint in reference to Kit G. Morgan, 42.

During the investigation the alleged victim revealed the abuse had been occurring for several years. It was also discovered Morgan sent inappropriate text messages to a different victim, starting when she was approximately 15 years old.

Morgan was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is charged with 1st degree rape; felony sexual battery (victim under 13); and indecent behavior with juveniles. Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $1.45 million.

CPSO Special Victims Unit Detective Sonny Schiro is the lead investigator on this case.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
