Alice Jane Svenning

Alice “Jane” Svenning, 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. She was born on Oct. 2, 1937 in Memphis, Tenn. to Clarence and Inez Regan Fortenberry.

Jane spent most of her life abroad. She worked for King Faisal in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for eight and a half years as an accountant. She married Stl Svenning of Oslo, Norway on Bahrain Island in the Persian Gulf. They moved to Sydney, Australia and lived there for several years overlooking the Opera House. After that, they moved to Oslo, Norway and spent many years in her husband’s country.

Jane was feisty, competitive and determined. Her life was full of adventure; except for skydiving!

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Leigh DeRosier (John); her grandson, Alexander Collins Miles; her sister, Jean Fudge of Hendersonville, Tenn., and her brother, Robert “Bobby” Fortenberry (Peggy) of Humbolt, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Stl Svenning.

Jane’s wish, “Love your pets! Adopt, rescue and please donate to your favorite organization to help all animals that need a home.” This is Jane’s wish.
