Children and teens who love to create and construct will have fun opportunities to let their creative light shine at the Calcasieu Parish Public Library.

The Big Kids Art Club, a group for upper elementary aged children, explores different themes each month at Central Library.

This month, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, children will be creating and drawing their own robots.

For the smaller children in grades pre-K through lower elementary, the Little Artists group meets monthly for an art project designed just for them.  Join the group on Tuesday, March 12, from 3:30 p.m. -4:30 p.m. as they create paper lions.

For the teens, the Arts Smarts programs teach participants about different genres of art, ranging from Pop Art to Cubism. This month, the group will focus on abstract art and will create their own piece of art while learning about artists from the past.  The program will take place on Tuesday, March 26, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

All three programs will take place at Central Library, located at 301 W. Claude St., and are free and open to all children and teens.

All supplies for the programs will be provided and space is limited.  Due to this, registration is required.  To sign up, simply call Central Library at (337) 721-7116 and library staff will sign participants up!
