Norma Brosnan

Died peacefully in the comfort of her home on Jan. 27, 2024. 

Born Feb. 28, 1941 in New York, N.Y. to Horace Jones and Hildegard Zanker.

She was raised in California and moved to Indonesia with her family and then onto Kodaikanal, India where she attended the Kodaikanal International school. She graduated from Mount Diablo high school in Concord, Calif. Norma had a true entrepreneurial spirit. She went on to cosmetology school and opened up her own salon in Concord, Calif. named Lavender Blue. After a successful run with her beauty salon, she moved to Iowa with her husband, where she worked in real estate, was a counselor for at risk youths, and helped put her husband through chiropractic college. They then moved to Lake Charles, La., where in 1980 they started Back to Health Chiropractic Clinic together. Norma and Dr. Peter Brosnan embarked on a 48 year journey together. Norma was the office manager while Peter was the attending physician. With their passion for natural health and wellness, they thrived in helping so many of their patients and educating the community about chiropractic and nutrition. They immersed themselves in the culture and community of Lake Charles and intern, were embraced fully and forged lifelong friendships with many. Norma was extremely involved in the community where she volunteered regularly with Episcopal Day school and St. Louis Catholic high school. She was also very proud of her involvement with EDAC, the Economic Development Assistance Center. Where she would help entrepreneurs navigate through the process of starting a business and taught courses in advertising and marketing. She was so impactful in the lives of so many. Norma was a true natural beauty inside and out. She exemplified true grace, class, strength, compassion, dignity and resilience. She was an unconditional lover of all life and cosmically spiritual. She was a longtime student of A Course in Miracles. Norma had a love for art, astrology, calligraphy, nature, animals, music, dancing, swimming, riding bikes, doing yoga and reading. A true advocate for peace and harmony. Norma‘s love for her family and friends was unrivaled.

Those left to cherish and continue her amazing legacy of love and light are her sister, Suzanne McGowan; her sons, Devin Williams and Eiric Brosnan; her grandchildren, Josh Williams and wife, Trisha, Michelle Williams Engrav and husband, Collin, and Nico Brosnan; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Dillon, Savannah and Harmony Williams. As well as her longtime girlfriends and other relatives, and all those that got to meet and know her.
