Barbara Cutrera

Barbara Cutrera passed away at home on Feb. 24, 2024 surrounded by her loving family .

Mrs. Cutrera was born in New Orleans and had lived in Lake Charles for the past 66 years. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, serving  as a member of the Church Choir and  the Ladies Altar Society. 

Her passion was singing not only in the Church but also as a 45 year member of the Lake Charles Messiah Chorus.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Anthony Cutrera Jr.; her parents, Edward  and May Malone Castaing,  and a son-in-law, Lucas Terracina.

She is survived by three daughters,  Jean Terracina and Cathy Mitchell (Steve), both of Lake Charles,  Debra Ayres (John) of Denham Springs; three sons, William “Bill” Cutrera (Arleen), Mike Cutrera (Sharon), and Mark Cutrera (Michelle) all of Lake Charles, 21 grandchildren, Nicholas Terracina (Bridget), Diane Rump (John), Claire Terracina, Jacob Terracina, Christy Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell (Brittany), Lori Murphy (Jason), Rachael Ayres,  Valerie Burge (Corey) , Andrew Ayres (Natalie), Daniel Ayres, Anthony Cutrera (Elizabeth), Natalie Pigno (David), Timothy Cutrera (Shelby), Matthew Cutrera, Eric Cutrera (Greta), Kimberly Phelps (Peyton), Kelli Cutrera, Brittany Weeks (Parker), Allison Hurley (James), Connor Cutrera and 29 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by one brother, Edward Castaing of New Orleans.

Visitation at Johnson Funeral Home will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 29, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Rev. Monsignor Danny Torres will officiate. Burial will in Consolata Cemetery. Her grandsons will be pallbearers.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her sitters Beverly, Sheyla, Liz, and Dawn, as well as her Hospice nurse, Ann Marie.
