Mary Jane Thomas

Mary Jane Thomas, 88, was born on Sep. 3, 1935, in Plaisance, La., to the union of the late Lucius Malveaux Sr. and Alice Young Malveaux. She departed her earthly life on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023 in a local hospital surrounded by family. 

Mary Jane was a devoted catholic. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, where she was a member of the St. Joseph Society. Mary Jane spent her time reading the bible, praying the rosary, and worked faithfully at the church parish annual bazaar, until her health no longer allowed. She enjoyed spoiling her beloved granddog, Chance, cheering for the New Orleans Saints football team, cooking, and spending time with her loved ones. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucius and Alice Malveaux; her husband, Paul Thomas Sr.; son, Gary Thomas; daughter, Andrea Reina Thomas; great-grandson, Michael Thomas Jr.; her five brothers, Lester J. Malveaux, Joseph Preston Malveaux, Lucius Malveaux Jr, David Malveaux, and Emile Malveaux, and four sisters, Louise Bertrand, Rose Anna Brown, Alice Durouso and Lonnie Fontenot.

She leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Jerome (Alicia) Thomas, Paul (Tonya) Thomas Jr., Mark Anthony Thomas, and Patrick (Renee’) Thomas. One stepdaughter, Brenda (Fred) Fontenot; two sisters, Margaret Eaglin of Port Authur, Texas, Albertha Malveaux of Plaisance, La. and one brother, Antoine Malveaux of Lawton Okla.; 14 grandchildren, Tristian, Christian, Clinton, Michael, Derricka, Devon, Troy, Arthur, Natalie, Crystal, Gary, Don, Donovan, Brittney, 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.  

Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lake Charles, La. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023 under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
