ELECTION RESULTS: Several runoffs set for Beauregard Police Jury seats

Beauregard voters overwhelmingly approved Cindy Britster, no party, for Merryville police chief on Saturday.

Brister received 68 percent, or 137 votes, while Democrat Fred Walker received 32 percent, or 65 votes.

There will be multiple runoffs in the Police Jury races. In District 1, “Luke” Dickerson will face “Wayne Reeves in the November runoff. Both are Republicans. Dickerson received 49 percent of Saturday’s vote, or 312, to Reeves’ 34 percent, or 213 votes.

In District 3B, Eddie Ware, a Republican, will face “Teddy” Welch, a Republican, in a runoff. Ware received 43 percent, or 320 votes, to Welch’s 31 percent, or 232 votes.

In District 3C, “Beth Whittington” Montgomery will face James Boswell in a runoff. Both are Republicans. Montgomery received 48 percent, or 420 votes, to Boswell’s 33 percent, or 290 votes

There will also be a runoff in the District 4B race. Ronnie Jackson received 41 percent of the vote, or 342, will “Doug” Hillebrandt received 39 percent, or 322 votes.

Jerry L. Shirley, a Republican won the District 3E seat outright on Saturday. He received 61 percent, or 446 votes, while Jeremy Jones received 39 percent of the vote, or 290. Both are Republicans.

Nelson “OB” Morgan, a Republican won the District 4A seat outright. He receiceved 60 percent of the vote, or 474. “Joe” Doucet, also a Republican, received 40 percent, or 319 votes.

In the state representative races, Beauregard voters favored Rodney Schamerhorn over Clarence Beebe for the 24th representative district seat. Schamerhorn received 52 percent, or 775 votes, while Beebe received 48 percent, or 702 votes. For the 30th representative district, voters favored Charles Owen, a Republican,  with 84 percent, or 2,505. His opponent, Willaim “BJ” Jones, an independent, received  16 percent, or 478 votes.

Beauregard voters also overwhelmingly supported Republican Jeff Landry in his bid to become Louisiana’s next governor. Seventy-one percent of Beauregard voters, or 5,323, supported Landry while 11 percent, or 833, supported Hunter Lundy, an independent.

In the BESE District 7 race, Beauregard voters favored Kevin M. Berken. They also favored John Fleming for treasurer, John Fleming for attorney general,”Mike” Francis for secretary of state and William “Billy” Nungesser of lieutenant governor, and supported all four constitutional amendments proposed.
