Motor officers recognized

Five Lake Charles Police Department Motor Officers participated in the 23rd annual Gulf Coast Police Motorcycle Skills Championship in Gonzales.

The officers who competed were Sgt. Shaun Touchet, Sgt. Scott Dougherty, Cpl. Branden Guillory, Cpl. Dennis Miller and Cpl. Ted Oliver.

Touchet placed second in the novice division; Dougherty placed eighth in novice division; and Miller placed second the Over 50 competition.

The Gulf Coast Police Motorcycle Skills Championship donates the proceeds from the event to the Dream Day Foundation for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Braud earns certification

CSE Federal Credit Union is proud to announce Business Lending Officer Tray Braud has graduated from CUNA Business School and earned his Credit Union Business Lending Professional certification.

Braud joined CSE in 2021 and notes that one of the keys to his success is his experience in building relationships. He is a Southwest Louisiana native who graduated from McNeese and worked in the financial industry for 11 years before joining the credit union. In addition, he is a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor and member of the Rotary Club of Lake Charles.

Visit Lake Charles marketing team

Visit Lake Charles, the official destination marketing organization for Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana, announced two key promotions in the marketing department. Colten Miller has been promoted to the position of senior director of brand marketing and Kathryn Shea Ducan has been promoted to the position of senior director of social media/communications.

Miller has played a vital role in the Visit Lake Charles marketing team for the past nine years, where he joined in May 2014 as the publications/system manager. He was promoted to director of brand marketing in January 2022. In his new role, Miller will lead the brand marketing team in ensuring a consistent destination voice in all online content, in addition to his responsibilities in overseeing branding and advertising efforts.

A native of Lake Charles, Miller is a graduate of McNeese State University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in business administration.

In addition to overseeing Visit Lake Charles’ social media strategy and implementation, Duncan will lead the communications team in content creation, partner and stakeholder communications, media relations, and photography. Duncan joined the Visit Lake Charles team in September 2019 as the media/public relations manager and was promoted to director of social media in January 2022.

Duncan is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. During her time at Visit Lake Charles, Duncan has received numerous honors. Among them, Destinations International’s 30 Under 30, Rising Star Award by the Southeast Tourism Society, and eTourism Summit Emerging Tourism Star.  She also serves as a board member of the Imperial Calcasieu Museum and as a committee member for Destinations International, Louisiana Travel Association, and Southeast Tourism Society.

Armentor named lending manager

CSE Federal Credit Union is happy to announce Hailey Armentor as its new mortgage lending manager.

Armentor was named to the role shortly after joining CSE in June 2023. She brings 17 years of finance experience to the credit union — 11 of which are in mortgage lending. Armentor earned a lending certification in 2008 and is an active member of the Southwest Louisiana Association of Realtors.

Delisa Clark, a 20-year veteran in working with young adults and a McNeese State University graduate, has been named Coordinator of Athletic Study Lab for Student-Athlete Services for McNeese Athletics, Director of Athletics Heath Schroyer announced on Friday.

Clark to oversee MSU study Lab

Delisa Clark, a 20-year veteran in working with young adults and a McNeese State University graduate, has been named coordinator of athletic study lab for Student-Athlete Services for McNeese Athletics, Director of Athletics Heath Schroyer announced on Friday.

Clark will manage the athletic study lab as well as assist and mentor student-athletes with Moodle, study skills, organization skills and tutoring opportunities. She’ll also perform class checks and will manage student workers.

Prior to joining the McNeese staff, Clark spent nearly 20 years as a probation and parole officer for juveniles with the State of Louisiana of Public Safety and Corrections Office of Juvenile Services. She’s also worked as a child welfare specialist.

Forest Elected as AIChE Fellow

Jerry Forest has been elected as a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Additionally, he was recently elected as a Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) emeritus.

He has held several leadership positions in both AIChE and CCPS including chair of AIChE’s Process Safety Division and Vice Chair of the CCPS Planning Committee.

He is a CCPS Certified Process Safety Professional, former Global Process Safety Manger of LyondellBasell, and retired Sr. Director of Process Safety at Celanese. He presently teaches Chemical Engineering Process Safety at LSU and is a Process Safety Improvement Consultant at Jerry Forest, LLC.

Lodhi joins LC Memorial Health

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is pleased to welcome nephrologist, Fahad Lodhi, MD to its medical staff.

Lodhi received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from F M H College of Medicine and Dentistry in Shadman, Lahore in Pakistan. He then competed an internal medicine residency at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wis., where he served as chief resident. He continued with a Nephrology Fellowship at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, where he served as Chief Fellow. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with a subspecialty in Nephrology.

Lodhi has family in Lake Charles. He will join his brother and fellow nephrologist A.A.K Lodhi, MD, along with Abdel F. Abu Shamat, MD and staff treating patients at The Kidney Clinic in Lake Charles.
