The Republican Women of Southwest Louisiana will be hosting Gordon G. Chang Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m to 1 p.m.

Chang is an American journalist, political commentator and author of several China-centric global political books, including “The Great U.S.-China Tech War.” He regularly appears on Fox News, Newsmax TV, CNN, MSNBC and Fox Business, and has given briefings at the National Intelligence Council, Central Intelligence Agency, State Department and the Pentagon.

During the luncheon, he will be discussing China and the country’s impact on global politics. RWSWLA called Chang the “world’s leading authority on Asia,” as he has lived and worked in China and Hong Kong for nearly two decades.

Pamela McGough, RWSWA board member, said that while Chang is a Republican, his perspective is bipartisan.

“When he speaks of the threat China is to America, everyone, no matter their political affiliation or beliefs, should hear what he has to say. He feels China is a huge threat to us and everyone should listen to why he believes this way and what he believes America’s next step needs to be.”

She said he will be discussing the President Xi Jinping’s political intentions with the United States.

“Mr. Chang is an expert on China and will be discussing how Biden’s Presidency is intertwined with China and if this is a good thing or not.”

RWSWLA chose to host Chang to bring “someone of his quality and knowledge” to Southwest Louisiana.

Mary “Sister” Fontenot, RWSWLA president, stated in a press release that the group was expecting a large crowd.

“We are very excited to host Gordon Chang and hear what he has to say about the United States and China’s relationship.”

Chang will be available for a book signing of his book ‘The Great U.S.-China Tech War’ at 10 a.m. prior to the luncheon.

The luncheon will be held at the Lake Charles Country Club, 3350 Country Club Drive

Tickets for the luncheon must be purchased in advance. They are $40 and can be purchased at www.RWSWLA.com.
