𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐒

The American Red Cross of Louisiana is assisting those impacted by the wildfires. If there is a need, call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐓𝐄𝐑

Residents can take shelter at the First United Methodist Church in DeRidder, 406 West Shirley St. At the shelter assisting are local and church volunteers, the DeRidder Fire Department, American Red Cross, Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief and others. There is plenty of food and drinks, as well as cots for those evacuating. For more information, call the church office at 337-463-4491.

The First Baptist Church of DeRidder, 2030 Hwy. 171, is also a shelter site.

Dry Creek Baptist Camp, 8237 La. 113, is taking in people who need to evacuate. They have lodging and meals. First responders can also go there to cool off, if need be. Call the camp if you have questions, 337-495-3222.

𝐎𝐅𝐅-𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐉𝐎𝐇𝐍𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐁𝐘 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐄

Via the Fort Johnson Garrison — Off-post soldiers and family members that are an Active Duty Soldier or Family Member residing off post,  if they are affected by an evacuation order issued by local authorities, The Main Post Chapel is being opened as a temporary safe haven, until further accommodations can be made.

𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐒

A Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief feeding unit is set up at the Beauregard Baptist Association (735 West Drive, DeRidder) and is providing meals for all first responders, linemen, forestry, evacuees at the Red Cross Center and they can deliver where needed for volunteers working the fires. Call the BBA office at 318-729-8922 (weekend) or 337-202-4043 (during the week) for more information.

The Market on Mahlon Street vendors have been feeding those impacted as well as first responders. Follow the market page to follow their meal updates. Another one is set for Monday.

𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐒

Due to the close fire threat, the Beauregard Covered Arena is no longer a shelter for animals. The Beauregard Parish Fairgrounds are also closed.

The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office Animal Control availability in their new facility if someone should need to house pets there. For more information, call 337-460-5511. The facility is located at 412 Bolivar Bishop Drive. You may also call if you need assistance with evacuating your pets.

𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓

A “Beauregard Community Prayer Event” will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27 at the First Baptist Church of DeRidder, 2030 Hwy. 171. All are invited.

𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐏

United Way of Southwest Louisiana is collecting donations to assist with fire victims across SWLA. Text FIRESWLA to 40403 to learn how you can help, or visit unitedwayswla.org/fireswla.

New Step Outreach in DeRidder has been making and distributing snack kits for first responders. Contact the organization for more information on how to help, 337-226-5602. Items being collected are beef jerky/slim jims, Propel packets, PB crackers, eye drops, gummy snacks, peppermints, granola, wet wipes and tuna cracker packs. They are also collecting monetary donations to help with their disaster relief fund. Visit the organization’s website at www.newstepoutreach.org to donate.

Dewith Carrier State Representative District 32 is collecting donations of Liquid IV Hydration packets to distribute to first responders and volunteers in Beauregard Parish. If you can help, contact the district office at 318-335-0206 and arrangements will be made to pick up the donations.

Water, Gatorade and non-perishable snacks for first responders can be dropped off at the Westside Fire Station in DeRidder, 102 Wilson Street. Firefighters will get it to the areas in need. No clothing donations are being accepted. This is to limit the traffic in and around the response area.
