The mandatory evacuation order has been lifted from Merryville and power is being restored, according to Beauregard Parish Sheriff Mark Herford.

Herford reports that the Tiger Island Fire is now 50 percent contained with 33,294 acres affected.

“We continue to receive help by outside assets arriving in Beauregard Parish coming in and helping our ultimate mission of containing this fire,” Herford said. “We are grateful and look forward at working together to saving our communities.”
