Evacuation

As of Friday afternoon, August 25, a mandatory evacuation has been issued for residents in Merryville and the surrounding areas. Roads of particular concern include Fred Cloessner Rd., Bob Cooley Rd., Ira Cooley Rd., John Bowman Rd., Mitchell Loop, Kenneth Dunn Rd., Robert Slaydon Rd., and the north end of Newlin Cemetery Rd.

Residents of Neale Oilfield Rd. and north of Highway 190 W. were issued.

A mandatory evacuation was also ordered for those in the Junction community (between DeRidder and Merryville) on Hwy. 90, Red Hill and Nichols Sibley area.

At 1 p.m., evacuations for the Toledo Bend area within Sabine Parish and Bancroft, and unincorporated area of Beauregard Parish.

At about 1:30 p.m. on Friday, the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office ordered a mandatory evacuation for all residents in the Bancroft community. Residents were instructed to evacuate south on 389 towards DeQuincy.

Road Closures

As of 2 p.m. Friday afternoon, LA 27 from LA 110 (Singer) to Ball Rd. and LA 110 from LA 27 (Singer) to US 190 (Merryville) have been closed by the Louisiana State Police.

Shelters

The American Red Cross has set up a shelter at United Methodist at 406 W. Shirley St. in DeRidder. Cots are available.

Dry Creek Baptist Camp, Highway 113, is also open for shelter.

The Beauregard Parish Fair Grounds are also open for equipment, RVs and campers. To access, use the north gate by the baseball fields.

Resources

The Beauregard Baptist Association, 735 West Dr. DeRidder, has set up a Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief feeding unit to provide meals for evacuees at the Red Cross Center and those working to extinguish the fires. They can deliver, contact BBA at 337.202.4043 for more information.

Meals are also being provided by The Church International – Rosepine for first responders and those affected by fires in both Beauregard and Vernon.

Donations

Dewith Carrier State Representative District 32 is asking for donations of Liquid IV Hydration packets for first responders and volunteers in Beauregard Parish. To donate, contact 318.335.0206.

New Step Outreach in DeRidder is putting together and distributing snack kits for first responders. Contact 337.226.5602 to donate or volunteer.

Any water, gatorade or non-perishables for first responders can be dropped off at Westside Fire Station in DeRidder, 102 Wilson St.

The United Way of Southwest Louisiana announced on Friday, August 25 that they have launched a Fire Relief Fund to aid individuals and families affected by the Beauregard fires. 100 percent of proceeds are being directed to “distributing relief funds according to the community’s most urgent needs and assisting firefighters with needs,” according to the release.

“We want our communities to know that we are ready to help them recover as soon as the fires are contained and that we are here now if they need something,” said Denise Durel, President and CEO for United Way of Southwest Louisiana. “We need those who can offer support to join us by making a donation of any size.”
