Fishermen and families, it’s time to wet a line and honor veterans. The first-ever United Way Reelin’ for Warriors Fishing Rodeo is Saturday,  August 12. The event to raise money for United Way of Southwest Louisiana and the SWLA Veterans Association will be held at Calcasieu Point Landing, 3955 Henry Pugh Blvd., Lake Charles.

Registration starts at 5 a.m. Fishing starts at “safe light.” Weigh-in is at 2 p.m. The family-style award ceremony will be held later in the day.

“This is such a natural partnership because it is a response to the complex issues veterans face today and provides an event where families can spend more time together outdoors,” said Denise Durel, United Way President/CEO.
