Veillon named hospital CFO

Beauregard Health System is pleased to announce that Jarred Veillon has accepted the position of chief financial officer at Beauregard Health System.

Veillon joined the team at BHS in June of 2021 as the assistant vice president of finance. He was then promoted to the role of chief administrative officer as part of a structured succession plan to step into the chief financial role upon the retirement of long time CFO Darrell L. Kingham. Veillon directly oversees the day-to-day operations for accounting, revenue cycle, financial clearance, business office, information technology, case management, plant operations and materials management.

In his new role, in addition to his current responsibilities, he will be in charge of developing financial strategies, driving revenue optimizations, overseeing cost control plans and ensuring organizational financial performance.

Veillon holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in accounting from McNeese State University and is certified as a Rural Hospital Chief Financial Officer by the National Rural Health Association. Veillon brings 13 years of finance and accounting experience to the table, having served as an internal auditor, financial controller, senior staff accountant and accounting supervisor at various firms and organizations across Southwest Louisiana.

Laughlin named WCCH director

SULPHUR — James “Toby” Laughlin was recently named director of materials management at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. As director of materials management, Laughlin will supervise purchasing, delivery and storeroom personnel.

Laughlin has 40 years of experience in healthcare materials management and supply chain management and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from McNeese State University.

In his previous role as director of supply chain management operations at Baylor Scott & White Health, Laughlin oversaw all supply chain operations for the facility for all clinical areas, including surgery, cath lab, imaging and 15 off-site facilities. He has held positions as project manager and regional director of supply chain management, overseeing various health systems and off-site facilities.

Higgins receives Champion award

U.S. Congressman Clay Higgins, R-La., received the Champion of Limited Government Award from the Institute for Legislative Analysis for his unwavering support in reducing the size of our federal government.

The Institute measures how federal and state lawmakers adhere to limited government principles of the Constitution.

“The federal government’s regulatory authority is weaponized against the American people,” Higgins said. “Over the years, federal bureaucratic oppression has increasingly targeted the rights and wealth of everyday Americans. I will always stand with We the People, and fight to reduce the scope and size of the federal government.”

Foundation welcomes two members

SULPHUR — During the May 18 West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital Foundation Board of Directors meeting, the WCCH Foundation welcomed two new members to the board – Richard R. Roe, IV, MD, anesthesiologist/medical director of WCCH and Colleen Desselle, chief marketing officer for CSE Federal Credit Union.

Dr. Roe is a graduate of the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport and completed his anesthesiology residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. He is board certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Louisiana Society of Anesthesiologists and sits on the board of the Louisiana Society of Anesthesiologists PAC.

Roe is also active in the community, serving as a member of the Sowela School of Nursing and Allied Health Advisory Committee. He possesses a passion for philanthropy. He replaces Tom Henning who served on the Foundation board for more than 20 years.

Desselle serves as the chief marketing officer for CSE Federal Credit Union, where she has worked for more than 30 years. During her time at CSE, she has been involved in operations, member services, consumer lending, mortgage lending, and loan processing. She is a graduate of McNeese State University. Colleen serves on the board of directors of the West Cal Chamber of Commerce and is the incoming Chairperson for the 2025 term. She is active in the community and participates in various non-profit and community-related events. Desselle replaces Nina Vincent who served on the WCCH Foundation board for 26 years.

Lee to oversee N.J. hospital

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has named Chief Operating Officer Alan Lee as its president effective June 7. Lee is a DeRidder High School alumnus.

With this change all RWJUH clinical and operational leadership will report to Lee, building on the successful partnerships among nursing, operations and finance he has helped form since joining RWJUH last year.

Lee will also serve as interim COO while the organization conducts a national search for a successor in that role.

RWJUH is a 640-bed hospital and New Jersey’s largest academic medical center through its deep partnership with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. In addition, The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at RWJUH is a 105-bed, dedicated children’s hospital that serves as the hub of the state’s only pediatric academic medical campus, which includes the Rutgers Child Health Institute and PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital.

RWJUH is a state-designated Level I Trauma Center and provides quaternary level care in cardiovascular services, neuroscience, gastroenterology and GI surgery, organ transplantation, robotic surgery, gynecology, emergency medicine and more. RWJUH is the flagship location of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

Lee came to RWJUH from New York-Presbyterian, where he served in multiple senior leadership roles since 2009. He was vice president of support services and patient experience at NYP/Weill Cornell, then vice president of operations at NYP/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, before assuming the role of chief operating officer at NYP Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. During his time there, Lee led strategic initiatives focused on patient experience, operations and capital expansion, environmental services, patient throughput and length of stay management.

Lee began his career in hotel management where he established a strong foundation in customer service and environmental standards at several New York City-based luxury and deluxe hotel brands, including the Millennium Broadway, Regent Wall Street, and Ritz-Carlton New York Battery Park and Hudson, an Ian Schrager Hotel.
