A Lake Charles man has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the 2021 fatal shooting of a homeless man.

Steven D. Rigmaiden, 30, who is facing life behind bars, will be sentenced by Judge Michael Canaday on June 14.

Rigmaiden fatally shot Ezekiel Joubert on June 19, 2021, from his car near Albert and Elder streets. Joubert’s body was later discovered in the middle of the road.

Lake Charles Police SWAT members arrested Rigmaiden the next day after video surveillance showed him driving a red 2007 Montecarlo just a few blocks from the crime scene minutes after the shooting occurred.
