Road rage blamed in connection to shots fired at 18-wheeler

A Mississippi man was arrested Sunday after allegedly firing multiple shots at an 18-wheeler following a possible road rage incident on Interstate 10 near Welsh.

Monterey Tedahl Gates, 27, of Jackson, Miss., was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, five counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Jeff Davis Parish sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to I-10 eastbound near Welsh shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday in reference to shots being fired from a vehicle during a possible road rage incident, according to Commander Ramby Cormier.

Deputies were able to locate and stop the suspected vehicle in Jennings.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Gates allegedly fired several shots into an 18-wheeler.

No injuries were reported during the incident which remains under investigation, Cormier said.
