Southwest Louisiana is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day all month long with Green Hat Taste of SWLA.

This annual event is hosted by the Christus Ochsner Southwestern Louisiana Foundation, and is a “community focused event that provides St. Patrick’s Day fun all month long,” according to Cheyanna Glyenn, Children’s Miracle Network and Event Director of Christus Ochsner Southwestern La. Foundation.

Green Hat Taste is a self-guided tour of 13 local restaurants offering discounts, drinks and treats to participating patrons.

This is an event that is treasured by the community. “The Green Hat experience has become a beloved community tradition that brings everyone together to experience and support local restaurants that have partnered with us,” said Patiricia Prudhomme, Executive Director of Development with Christus Ochsner Southwestern La. Foundation.

Through Green Hat Taste, SWLA locals have the opportunity to help the community while also patronizing the wide range of cuisine the area has to offer. “We want everyone to get a taste of what Lake Charles has to offer and to raise money that stays here locally to make a difference in our community.”

All monies raised through Green Hat Taste fund Christus Ochsner Southwestern La. Foundation’s patient care. “The proceeds from this event are important to current and future projects, specifically what we provide as a resource for new technology and equipment to ensure our patients receive the most excellent, innovative care,” said Prudhomme.

Registration for Green Hat Taste is $50. This includes access to the small bites and drinks offered at participating restaurants and a commemorative Green Hat T-Shirt.

To celebrate, participants are encouraged to deck themselves out in St. Patrick’s Day attire.

Registration is valid through Friday, March 31 and can be completed by contacting the foundation’s office at 337.430.5353 or online at
