For a second consecutive year, St. Louis Catholic’s soccer program earned a pair of top-four seeds in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association soccer playoffs.

The St. Louis boys are the highest-seeded team from Southwest Louisiana at No. 3 in Division III. The Saints have won five of their last seven games and tied DeRidder for the District 3-III championship.

The Saints (14-3-4) will host No. 30 Union Parish (3-12-3) at noon Saturday. The St. Louis girls (11-6-3) took the No. 4 seed when the brackets were released on Tuesday. The District 3-III champions will host Morgan City (2-16-1) at 2 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be played at McNeese State’s Cowgirl Field.

The Sulphur Tors claimed their highest seed in program history at No. 5 in Division I. Two of the Tors’ (15-3-4) three losses were to top four teams in Division I No. 3 Mandeville and Division II No. 2 St. Thomas More.

The Tors, the back-to-back District 3-I champions, will look to improve on their quarterfinal run last year and host No. 28 Benton (11-12-1) at 5 p.m. Friday in the bi-district round.

“We are excited with making the playoffs,” Sulphur head coach Trevor Foolkes said. “The five seed is good but doesn’t mean anything now. It is one game at a time. We are looking forward to our game versus Benton, which is a quality team, well coached and has a great tradition. It is going to be a tough game for us.”

The DeRidder boys (11-7-2) are ranked No. 7 in Division III and host No. 26 West Feliciana at 6 p.m. Friday.

Fresh off winning their first district championship, the Division II No. 13 Sam Houston boys (15-4-2) will host No. 20 South Terrebonne at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Also hosting in the first round will be the Leesville boys (14-4-1) and the South Beauregard girls (14-7-4).

Division III No. 14 Leesville hosts No. 19 Lutcher, while Division III South Beauregard hosts No. 20 West Feliciana.

The state championship games will be played at Southeastern Louisiana University’s Strawberry Stadium in Hammond on Feb. 22-25.
