Thomas Conway “Tommy” Arnold, 92, of Youngsville, La., passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, in a Lafayette Healthcare Facility.
Mr. Arnold was born in Barger, Texas, and lived most of his life in Sulphur, La. In 2021, he moved to Youngsville, La., to be near his daughter. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School and McNeese State University where he obtained an Associate, Bachelor and Master’s degree in Process Technology and Instrumentation. He applied his studies at Citgo Petroleum and retired as a Training Manager with thirty-seven years of service. Following his retirement, he began his second career as a Professor of Technology at McNeese State University and Sowela Technical School and later started the Technology Program at ABC Training Center in Westlake. Mr. Arnold had an overwhelming wealth of knowledge and desire to keep learning and was kiddingly referred to as “a professional student”. During his latest years, as his vision faded he enjoyed listening to books on C/D. A man of family, faith and prayer, he loved listening to the word of God and particularly enjoyed the Bible on C/D, as he had completed the series twice and had started again. Mr. Arnold will be most remembered for his love and devotion to his family.
He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of 63 years, Wanda Marie Veazey of Youngsville; four children, Merita Walton (Randal) of Youngsville, Tim Arnold (Cam) of DeQuincy, and Gayelynn Huckaby and Tommie “Ty” Arnold, both of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Jonathan Walton (Corrie) of Church Point, Jamie Yeats (Anthony) of Lafayette, and Nicholas LaRocca “Missy” and Jordan Arnold (Kristen), both of DeQuincy; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Edwin Arnold of Jonesboro, AR and John Wayne Arnold (Billie Sue) of Dallas, Texas.
