Spring 2023 registration is open for all interested individuals who want to enroll at Sowela Technical Community College for any of its more than 30 academic programs at all four of the community college’s locations in Southwest Louisiana. The first round of registration will close at 11:59 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9.

Late registration for anyone who misses the first registration deadline will open on Wednesday, Jan. 11, and close Thursday, Jan. 19. Courses for the upcoming semester will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 17. The last date to add or drop classes is Thursday, Jan. 19.

Sowela is offering online, hybrid and in-person options dependent on course availability and requirements. Sowela’s main campus is in Lake Charles with sites in Jennings, Oakdale and the recently acquired Lamar Salter Campus in Leesville. Students can apply at www.sowela.edu/how-to-enroll.

Scholarships of $500 are available for new students on a first-come, first-served basis in the following programs: accounting, aviation maintenance technology, chemical laboratory technology, digital arts and communication, information systems technology, outdoor power equipment technology, surgical technology, vehicle maintenance technology and welding (at the Oakdale and Jennings locations). Additional scholarships and financial aid are also available for those that qualify.
