Caldwell “Willie” Fontenot Sr., 83, of Lake Charles, La., passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, in a local hospital.
Mr. Fontenot was born April 10, 1939, in Swords, La., and lived in Lake Charles for the past 60 years. He retired from F. Miller and Son’s Construction, where he dedicated over thirty-five years. He was a longtime member of the Laborer’s Local 207 and a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. He will always be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and as a hard worker.
Mr. Fontenot is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna Mae Guillory Fontenot; sons, Caldwell Fontenot Jr. (Wenona) of Iowa, La., and Jonathan Fontenot of Lake Charles; daughters, Mary “Annette” DeJean (David) of LeBleu Settlement, La., and Jacqueline “Jackie” Fontenot of Lake Charles; daughter-in-love, Rachelle DeJean (Merrick) of LeBleu Settlement; brother, August Fontenot Jr. (Savannah) of Lake Charles; sisters, Anna Mitchell and Helen Francis (Jay), all of Beaumont, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August Fontenot Sr. and Albertine St. Andre Fontenot; brother, Roland Fontenot; and sisters, Ivy Guillory, Nathalie Guillory, and Merritta Citizen.
His memorial Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, at St. Henry Catholic Church. His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
