Calcasieu School Board recognizes 137 AP students

More than 130 exceptional students from Barbe, Iowa Sam Houston and Sulphur high schools were honored at the Calcasieu Parish School Board meeting this week.

The 137 students successfully completed their AP courses and exams at varying levels and were given respective honors: AP Scholar, AP Scholar with Honor, AP Scholar with Distinction and AP Capstone Diploma.

AP Scholars are students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.

Students who are deemed AP Scholars with Honor received an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

AP Scholars with Distinction are granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of the exams.

Scholars who receive the AP Capstone Diploma earned scores of 3 or higher in AP seminar and AP Research, in addition to scoring a 3 or higher on four AP exams of their choice.
