A Pacific storm system will bring widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms into the holiday weekend, according to the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.

There is a slight risk for excessive rainfall across the entire area into Saturday and a marginal risk for severe weather across most of the southwest corner of Louisiana, meteorologist Lance Escudé said.

“A very wet Thanksgiving weekend looks on tap for the region,” Escudé said. “After dry days to start the new week, another storm system brings rain chances back to the forecast.”

That rain should begin on Tuesday.

The Thanksgiving Day forecast calls for temperatures as high as 68 degrees and as low as 51.
