Mildred “Judy” LaGrange

Mildred Louise “Judy” Clark LaGrange, 92, of Lake Charles, La., passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, in a local care facility.
Mrs. LaGrange was born Nov. 15, 1929, in Oakdale, La., and has lived in Lake Charles since 1935. She was a 1947 graduate of Lake Charles High School and as a student worked for Mullers. She later was the bookkeeper for Ed Taussig Ford, Dr. Jared Garber and Photo & Copy. Mrs. LaGrange was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was active with Vacation Bible School and a current member of University Baptist Church, where she participated in the Joy Club. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed painting. Throughout the years, she made many beautiful watercolors of the old buildings in Lake Charles. She also enjoyed square dancing with her husband and was a member of the Swinging Rebels.
Mrs. LaGrange is survived by her son, Gary Clark LaGrange (Cathie) of Sulphur; and nieces and nephew, Kathryn “Katie” Stone, Mary Creighton (David), Robert Bruns (Shirley), and Kathleen McBride (Hugh); and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by husband of 52 years, Joseph Alvin LaGrange; parents, Ernest Lee and Flora Evelyn Brown Clark; and sisters, Marion Park (David) and Virginia Sue Bruns (Willie).
Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. John Astling will officiate. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the start of the service.
