Remona Elaine Mitchell Turner

JENNINGS – On Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, suddenly and swiftly our beloved Remona Elaine Mitchell Turner was granted eternal rest. On March 26, 1964, in Lafayette, La., her parents, Vergie Lee Trahan Mitchell and Murray Paul Mitchell, were gifted with a fourth baby girl, who was destined to always be the life of the party, always dancing, laughing, and bringing joy to all those who were fortunate to meet her on the path of her life’s journey.
A native of Gueydan and a resident of Lake Arthur, La., Remona was united in holy matrimony to Eric Scott Turner on Dec. 25, 1987.  They had one son, Virgil Turner.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Remona Elaine Mitchell Turner will be held on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with the Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Gueydan Cemetery.
Funeral home visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday; and 8 a.m.
Monday until the time of services.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
Remona is  survived by one son, Virgil (Tonya Guillory ) Turner of Lake Arthur, La.;   her mother, Vergie Trahan Mitchell; sisters, Michelle Mosely Hanzy and her husband, Claudel Hanzy of Houma, La.; Stephanie Mitchell-Bernard  and her husband, Dolan Bernard of Lafayette, La.;  Tammy Richardson and her husband, James Richardson of Jennings, La.  and Murray Paul Mitchell Jr. and his wife, Tamara Prudhomme Mitchell of Mandeville, La.; uncle, Eddie Woods of El Paso, Texas; one great-aunt, Joann Pharr Trahan of Gray, La.; mother in-law, Mary Turner Campbell, of Lake Arthur, La.; father in-law, Henry Jones Jr. of Mermentau, La.; three sisters in -law, Audrian Turner Tyler and her husband, Chuck Tyler;  Karron Campbell Thompson, Sharron Campbell Livingston and her husband Greg Livingston, all of Lake Arthur, La.; three grandchildren, Makayla, Laylanie and Dereon;  and nieces and nephews, whom she considered as her own; her goddaughter, Robbie da’Shay Carter; former daughter in-law, Shanika Breaux Turner and a host of relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Eric Scott Turner; father, Murray Paul Mitchell Sr.; maternal grandparents, Levird and Bessie Trahan; paternal grandparents, Paul Mitchell and Doretha Simon Woods; aunts, Muriel Margaret Mouton, Rogers Vital, Velma Sims and Dorothy Marie Robinson, and Mercedes Turner; uncles, Allen Lee Trahan, Adam Lee Trahan Sr., James Turner,  Landry Mouton Sr.,  and brother-in-law, the Rev. Dr. Freddie Lee Mosely,  and a dear great aunt, whom she considered as her grandmother, Mary Wilson; mother in-law, Marie Jones; cousins, Derrick Turner, Brent Trahan, Adam Trahan Jr.; nieces, Stephanie Mosely and Alicia Campbell.
Remona will be remembered as a person who loved to dance and for her love of her granddaughters, Makalya, Lalonnie, and Dereon.
