Shirley Fruge Myers

Shirley Faye Fruge Myers, 74, of Lake Charles, La., passed away at 10:52 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at her daughter’s home.
Mrs. Myers was born Oct. 27, 1947 in Lake Charles, La., raised on Creole Street. She graduated from LaGrange High School in 1966. She began her career specializing in OBGYN as a healthcare provider with Dr. John Moffett. She worked with him throughout his entire career and then worked for Dr. Rachel Chua, retiring in 2018. “Mrs. Shirley” as she was known will forever be remembered by her patients and coworkers for her caring, compassionate, and friendly nature. Mrs. Myers was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God and later Freedom Life Church. She had a great love of traveling and enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening and cruising the river on the pontoon boat.
Mrs. Myers is survived by her husband of 55 years, Earl Myers; daughter, Dena Breaux, both of Lake Charles; son, Jason Myers (Ericka Browne) of Frisco, Texas; sister, Sandra Elaine Fruge (Richard Test) of Peoria, Ill.; sister-in-law and close friend, Sharon Chesson of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Devin Breaux and Riley Breaux; and her fur babies, Abigail and Thibodeaux.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elroy and Sally Marie Fruge; brother, Alan Ray Fruge; and niece, Stacey Rochelle Eads.
Her cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
