Ardesta Rose Jones

Ardesta Rose Litters Jones was born Dec. 22, 1933, in Claire, La., to the parentage of Ernest Litters and Lula Sibley. She was raised in the community of Florien, La., and accepted Christ at an early age. She was the third born of five sisters.
Sister Ardesta Rose Litters united in holy matrimony in 1949 to Melvin Joseph Garner. To this union four children were born: Charles Donald , Carl Allen, Eugene Joseph Garner and Nita Garner Thomas. The family resided in Florien, La., DeRidder, La., and ultimately settled in Lake Charles, La. Sister Jones united with Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. D.J. Jones and has been a faithful member of Sunday School and church attendance at Mount Calvary for 65 years. Mrs. Jones was a proud mother who raised her children independently; all of whom grew up actively in the church, perfect attendance in school, all attended college and enjoyed productive careers.
Sister Jones was employed at Muller’s Department Store and also provided domestic services for over 20 years.
In 1974, Sister Jones united in matrimony to Brother Isaac Jones. They enjoyed over 22 years of laughter, family, friends, and church attendance. Sister Jones enjoyed attending church and Sunday school; being at home; spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; talking on the telephone; dining out; watching sports, gameshows, and soap operas.
Sister Jones peacefully departed this life to her heavenly home on July 25, 2022.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son & daughter in law, Eugene and Gwendolyn Garner of Lake Charles, La.; daughter-in-law, Debra Ferrier Garner of Katy, Texas; one grandson, Dr. Mario Garner of Spring, Texas; three grandaughters, Marina Garner (Brandon Sr.) Moore and Caitlin Garner (Melvin Wayne Jr.) Turner of Katy, Texas, and Courtney Thomas of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Inez Litters Doyne of Sacramento, Calif.; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, Mount Calvary B.C. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Stevens’ Funeral Home. Visitation Saturday 9 a.m. -10 a.m. at the church.
