George Joseph Fister III

George Joseph (Joey) Fister III was born July 21, 1968, in Gainesville, Fla., to parents George Joseph Fister Jr. and Ann (Brock) Fister. He passed away peacefully at his home in Plano, Texas.
Joey graduated from St. Louis High School and played the tuba in the marching band. He attended the Governors Program for the musically gifted at McNeese State University and then graduated from LSU with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Joey also played the tuba in the marching band at LSU. He then went on to graduate with his master’s degree in engineering from the University of Florida. He was an avid “gator fan” and enjoyed attending home games.
Joey was employed after graduation for 30 years, rising to Vice President for customer support and customer experience at Avaya.
He is survived by his parents, George and Ann Fister; sister, Carrie Fister and her wife Dezi Thompson.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 5495 Elliott Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70605. The Mass of the resurrection will follow the visitation at 2 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Joey’s name to the charity of your choice.
