Peggy Cooper Robertson

Peggy Cooper Robertson was born in DeQuincy, La., on April 26, 1942, and passed away May 14, 2022.
Peggy was a graduate of DeQuincy High School and McNeese State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree. She received her master plus thirty. Peggy’s teaching career started in Starks, La., and she later transferred to DeQuincy Middle School. She retired in 1994 with over thirty years of service.
Peggy married Steve W. Robertson on April 15, 1965 and one child was born, Kevin W Robertson. Peggy and Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing together on Toledo Bend Lake along with all the surrounding lakes and rivers. Peggy was Steve’s best friend and business partner throughout her life. They owned many businesses together. Peggy also was the secretary/treasurer for the Calcasieu recreation board of DeQuincy until the day she passed. Peggy had a strong love for God. She was a lifelong and active member of First Baptist Church of DeQuincy and a lifetime member NRA. She was a very strong woman and the backbone of her family. She had a secret love for toads and frogs and loved gardening and nurturing her beautiful flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Robertson; her parents, Otis and Elnora Cooper; sister, Patsy Ernst; and niece, Gina Kessler.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Robertson and wife Bridgit; brother, Lucien Cooper; nephew, Shawn Cooper and wife Monica; nieces, Codi Cooper, Stacy Cooper Little and husband Thad; great niece, Dusty LeBlanc; and her great nephew, Shane Ingram.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, May 16, and 9 – 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022, with the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. The visitation and funeral will be held at First Baptist Church, 201 South Pine St, DeQuincy, La. The Rev. Gil Arthur and the Rev. Jim Fisher will be officiating. Interment will follow in Masonic Cemetery, DeQuincy, La.
