A Texas man was arrested Wednesday after trying to sell drugs at a truck stop off Interstate 10 in Jeff Davis Parish.

Richard Moises Arguello, 29, of Nederland was arrested on charges of resisting an officer, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance Schedule IV and distribution and possession of legend drugs. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chris Ivey said deputies were called to Peto’s Truck Stop in Roanoke in reference to a man selling illegal substances to customers.

Deputies located the suspect in the parking lot and spoke with him, Ivey said.

Initially the suspect refused to identify himself to deputies and attempted to leave, he said. Deputies stopped him and during pat down located a pill bottle containing various colored tablets and a wallet.

Arguello gave deputies a fictitious name and date of birth that did not match identification found in his wallet.
