A 32-year-old Lake Charles man was found guilty of second degree murder Friday night.

Prosecutors say in 2019, Jewel D. Humphrey brutally beat his ex-girlfriend and the victim was later pronounced  deceased at the hospital.

Sentencing for Humphrey will be held Feb. 7, before Judge Derrick Kee.

Assistant District Attorneys Bobby Holmes and Taylor Alexander prosecuted the case for  the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
