Jerry Allen Wilburn

Jerry Allen Wilburn, 85, died Thursday, October 21, 2021 in a local hospital.
He was born in Crossett, Arkansas on November 12, 1935 to Coy Lillian Barker Todd  and James Allen Wilburn. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1953 and from Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas in 1957.
Most of Mr. Wilburn’s employment was spent in personnel administration having worked for W.T. Burton Industries, St. Patrick’s Hospital, and Davidson-Louisiana. He was a former member of several civic organizations including the Lions Club and the Optimist Club. He was also a member of the American Society of Personnel Administration and the American Society of Public and Community Relations. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and RV travel.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Sybil Yeates Wilburn of Sulphur; his sons, Mark Wilburn and wife, Rachel of Sulphur, Michael Wilburn and wife, Beth of Austin, Texas, and David Wilburn and wife, Tracy of Sulphur; eight grandchildren, Katie Wilburn Cart and husband, Jason, Courtney Wilburn Marse and husband, R.J., Trent Wilburn, Grant Wilburn, Abby Wilburn Kennan and husband, Sean, Matt Wilburn, Morgan Fontenot, and Kyle Fontenot and wife, Taylor; and eight great-grandchildren with two on the way.
His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 24, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Edward Richard, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss.
