What is the most interesting Week 3 game involving an area small school?

WA: Welsh at Hamilton Christian, Thursday. The Greyhounds have been impressive with a new spread offense led by RB Cohen Fontenot. The Warriors have won four in a row dating back to last season.

RA: Kinder at Loreauville. It will be a rematch of the Yellow Jackets thrilling double-overtime win over the Tigers in the Class 2A quarterfinals last season. Loreauville is ranked No. 7 in Class 2A while Kinder is coming off a tough loss Iowa after being down only two points at halftime.

Name a player to watch.

WA: Elton’s Sherman Bellow has accounted for 337 yards of offense and scored touchdowns via rushing, receiving and a kick return over the first two weeks.

RA: Vinton junior wide receiver Logan Beard has started the 2021 season on a tear with back-to-back 100-yard games. He caught a pair of touchdowns in the Lions’ season opening win over Elton and is averaging more than 16 yards a catch.

What is the best in-game small school matchup of the week?

WA: Welsh offense vs. Hamilton defense. Welsh’s run game has churned out nearly 800 yards over its first two games. Hamilton has allowed only 16 points per game over its last four games, all wins.

RA: Rosepine defense vs. East Beauregard offense. Rosepine hasn’t allowed a point while allowing just 67 yards per game led by linebackers Braden Trull Michael Woods and Dalton Keel. The Trojans average more than 400 rushing yards a game led by Kane Atkinson (439 yards, 6 TDs).
