Up to seven inches of rain has fallen across parts of Southwest Louisiana in the last 24 hours, leaving residents in flood-prone areas vulnerable.

“The area of most concern is the Sabine Basin where major flooding is expected,” said Jonathan Brazzell of the National Weather Service Lake Charles office in a email to the American Press. “The predicted crests will put the river in the top 10 highest levels on record.”
