Home Invasion/ Manslaughter

On Monday June 25, 2018, Aaron Kern, white male, 20 years of age, DOB: 11-24-1997, address: 204 Audubon, Sulphur, La, was arrested by the US Marshall Service Fugitive Apprehension Team in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Kern had fled the jurisdiction of the Lake Charles City Police after the home invasion on Madeline Street on Thursday January 25, 2018.  Kern had been identified as a suspect in this case and a warrant was presented to Judge David Ritchie on the charges CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND AGGRAVATED BURGLARY.  Judge Ritchie issued the warrant with a bond of $150,000 dollars.  Kern is currently in custody in Salt Lake City, Utah awaiting extradition back to Calcasieu Parish.

On 01-25-18 at 11:02am Lake Charles Police were called to 603 Madeline St. in reference to a shooting. When the first responding officer arrived he found the resident of the address uninjured along with a subject who has been identified as 23 year old Isaiah Williams on the floor in a hall way who had been shot by the resident.  Williams later died from his injuries.  A second subject was seen fleeing from the residence after the shooting.

On 01-26-18 at 1:44am Lake Charles Police arrested 21 year old Freddie Dequan Vezia for his involvement in the shooting. Vezia has been identified as the subject that ran from the residence after the shooting. Vezia was located at 2506 Stanton St. and arrested without incident.

Freddie Vezia is being charged with:

1 count 2nd Degree Murder

1 count Home Invasion

His bond was set at $800,000

Vezia was charged with 2nd degree murder due to him being a principle in the home invasion which lead to Williams being shot and killed.  

Detective Sgt. John Russell and Detective Willie Fontenot are leading the investigation.
