JENNINGS – The Jeff Davis Parish Health Unit is temporarily closing to allow for emergency repairs and maintenance to its facility located near the parish fairgrounds.

Police Jury President Donald Woods said Wednesday the Health Unit will be closed to allow crews to make maintenance on the facility including repairs to the roof and air conditioning.

During the closure, some services and staff to include the immunization division will be temporarily relocated to the Allen Parish Health Unit located at 145 Hospital Drive in Oakdale.

The Police Jury approved a cooperative endeavor agreement with the Jeff Davis Parish School Board to temporarily relocate the Health Unit’s sanitation service to the Education Media Center while the emergency repairs are being made.

It is not know how long the repairs will take, Woods said.

Until the health unit reopens, residents can access services, except for sanitarian services, at the Allen Parish Health Unit or any other health unit in the state.

The health unit is owned by the Police Jury and staffed by the Department of Health’s Office of Public Health.
