Cowboys beat UTA, take weekend series

The McNeese State baseball team received RBI contributions from six players en route to a 10-5 victory over Texas-Arlington to clinch the weekend series Saturday at Clay Gould Ballpark.
The series concludes with a game at 1 p.m. today.
Senior right-hander Blake Ware (4-1) threw six innings and struck out four for the Cowboys (10-7). Zach Thompson (1-2) suffered the loss, giving up six earned runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings for the Mavericks (9-9).
Phillip Lebleu finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a double. Andrew Guillotte (2-for-4) extended his streak of reaching base safely to 17 games.
Trailing 2-0 in the third, the Cowboys’ Skylar Barrentine scored on a fielder’s choice. Lebleu tied the score with an RBI double in the fourth. The Cowboys took a 4-2 later in the inning on Cameron Toole’s two-run single.
