JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A settlement conference is being scheduled in a lawsuit related to a Nissan dealership that was owned by former New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister.
McAllister has invested heavily in his native Mississippi, but his Nissan dealership in Jackson closed after filing for bankruptcy in 2009.
Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp. sued McAllister, claiming the dealership defaulted on payments and exceeded credit limits.
In a counter claim, McAllister said, among other things, Nissan knew he was an athlete — not a veteran of the car business — and did little to help his dealership succeed.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Linda Anderson scheduled the conference for Sept. 27. However, attorneys say other dates in September are being considered due to conflicting schedules.
A settlement conference doesn’t guarantee a deal will be reached.
