Sulphur Police Chief Lewis Coats said on Thursday that three additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the Jan. 24 armed robberies at Radio Shack stores in Lake Charles and Sulphur.
At 7:40 p.m. on Jan. 24, Lake Charles police received a report of three masked men with a firearm holding up the Radio Shack on Derek Drive. Sulphur police then received a call at about 8:30 p.m. about three men acting suspiciously in the area of the Radio Shack on Cities Service Highway.
One of the suspects was apprehended behind a building a short distance away and another was apprehended at a Walmart in Lake Charles.
James Undra Cooper, 21, Houston, and Jason R. Barnes, 21, Houston, were both charged with three counts of armed robbery and three counts of robbery with a firearm. Their bonds were set at $750,000 each.
Coats said the investigation then led detectives to Texas, where the third suspect and two others were located.
Christian D. Earvin, of Highlands, Texas, was shot by an officer during the robbery and went to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas, where he was treated for the injury. Coats said deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Sulphur Police Department about Earvin, 24, and his possible involvement in the robbery.
Coats said Earvin was arrested in Houston and charged with three counts of armed robbery and three counts of armed robbery with a firearm. His bond was set at $750,000.
“Upon further investigation by the Sulphur Police Detective Division and Baytown Police Detective Division warrants were served on two other suspects involved in the Sulphur Radio Shack robbery,” Coats said Thursday in a news release. “This was a joint effort between the Sulphur Police Department, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Lake Charles Police Department, Baytown Police Department, Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Houston Police Department.”
Coats said 24-year-old Stacey Parker, of Highlands, Texas, and 20-year-old Dariana Bridges, of Spring, Texas, were both arrested. Parker was charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of armed robbery with a firearm and his bond was set at $1,000,000. Bridges was also charged with with one count of armed robbery and one count of armed robbery with a firearm and her bond was set at $500,000.
