A 66-year-old Oberlin woman died Friday evening after a traffic accident on La. 26 near La. 102 in Hathaway, authorities said.

The woman, Louise Frank, was a passenger in a 2002 Ford Focus that hit a 2006 Toyota truck that turned into its path, state

police said.

The Focus was heading north, and the truck was turning left into a parking lot from the southbound lane. The accident happened

at about 6:30 p.m.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was cited for improper left turn and no seatbelt, state police said. The

driver of the Focus was wearing a seatbelt and wasn’t injured. Both drivers are 16 years old.

Frank was taken to Jennings American Legion Hospital, where she later died, state police said.

Authorities don’t think impairment was a factor in the crash.
