A free day of fun for families is planned Sunday, June 9, by the First Christian Church at 2525 Second Ave. The church’s first

Community Fun Day is open to everyone without charge. Activities will be going on from 2-5 p.m., followed by an outdoor

worship service.

“It was an idea I had because, for one

thing, I have four kids and love any opportunity to have good family fun

with them

at little to no cost,” Sabrina Feilen, a committee member, said.

“Secondly, I think a church should always make a point to

reach out to the community and help in any way it can. I sincerely

hope this day turns out like we planned and many families

are able to come out and have some fun.”

There will be a big combo fun jump/slide donated by Jump City Empire LLC. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers and pulled pork

with chips and drinks.

“We will also have a snow cone and

popcorn machines. Face painting will be offered, and a number of little

crafts are planned

for children. Games include sack races, bucket game from Bozo the

Clown days, duck pond, ring toss, guess the amount of candy

in a jar, clothes pin drops and a bean bag toss. We will also have

a Plinko board, fish toss and a dartless balloon toss built

by Mike Taylor.

Mrs. Karla Temple is planning a photo booth for families to get pictures. DJ Scott Duplechian will add music.

“We will also be doing a bake sale and a split-the-pot raffle just for a little extra fun and to help offset the cost of the

day,” Feilen said. “But all in all, the church is doing this for the community, and we have no problem footing this bill.”

“At about 5 o’clock we will wrap up the day and go into an outdoor worship, weather permitting, full of beautiful worship

music headed up by Teddy Nall,” she said.

“This event will be free to anyone and everyone who shows up. It is designed to simply be a fun, relaxing day for everyone

in the community. We’re doing this to reach out to give families a free day of fun. No strings are attached. We just want

people to come out and have a good time with their families.”

The church growth committee is heading the program. Members are Stearns Rogers, chairman; Stacy Eastwood , cochairman; Billie

Rogers; Harry Louviere; Carmen Louviere; Mrs. Karla Temple and Feilen.
