A 4-year-old is in stable condition after being hit by a car early Thursday morning, city police said.
Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said the child was walking near Henry Heights Elementary when she ran into the road and was stuck by a dark, full-size sport utility vehicle.
Kraus said the driver of the vehicle did not stop, but authorities do not yet know if the driver even knew that he or she had struck the child.
“The child ran into the road before the crossing guard was able to stop traffic,” Kraus said in a news release. “The child was admitted into a local hospital in stable condition.”
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact city police at 337-491-1311 or Crimestoppers at 337-439-2222.
