A car drove into a convenience store on the corner of Sale and Ryan streets Wednesday evening, leaving a mess of cigarette cartons, Crown Royal and Sour Patch Kids in its wake.
Workers said several customers were in the store when a car came crashing through the east wall of the building.
"I thought I was going to die," said clerk Jessica Pete, who was checking out a customer when collision took place. "I took off. I ran."
Officers on scene said it was believed the driver of the vehicle hit the gas accidentally. Police removed the vehicle from the store.
"I heard it, I almost got hit," said Brenda Baker, another store clerk. Baker said the customers looked stunned, too.
Pete said she was standing in front if the east wall when she heard the crash and ran, straight out the business's front doors.
She said her only injury was a cut to her finger.
