Laken Johnson lived with his grandfather.

Laken Johnson allegedly shot his grandfather one time in the left side with a 12-gauge shotgun, LaBorde said. The shotgun was recovered by police.

LaBorde said Johnson confessed to the slaying, but he could not elaborate on a motive.

Laken Johnson left the residence after the shooting and went to a friend’s house and the friend notified police, LaBorde said.

No one else was in the residence at the time of the shooting.
